Edvaldo Santana - The Best of Brazilian Music

Edvaldo Santana is a veteran troubadour of Brazilian stages. Emerging in the 1970s, he crafted a unique blend of blues with urban music. Since then, he has traveled many long roads. The son of northeastern migrants, born and raised in the East Zone of São Paulo, Edvaldo moves seamlessly through blues, samba, and rap. His album Reserva de Alegria was nominated for the Tim Award in 2007.

He has collaborated with artists such as Tom Zé, Itamar Assumpção, Paulo Leminski, Glauco Mattoso, and Ademir Assunção, among others. His collaborations include special appearances by Zélia Duncan, Chico César, Lenine, Titane, Thaíde, Rita Benneditto, Rappin' Hood, Duofel, and others.

Edvaldo has appeared on television programs such as Ensaio, Sr. Brasil, and Bem Brasil on TV Cultura, and Jô Soares and Bem Amigos on TV Globo. His music is played on radio stations such as Cultura AM, USP FM, Eldorado FM, and 105 FM in São Paulo; MPB FM in Rio de Janeiro; Ipanema FM in Porto Alegre; Tiradentes FM in Belo Horizonte, as well as on university and educational stations like Unesp FM, Universidade de Fortaleza, Cultura de Salvador, Educativa de Curitiba, and MEC Rio de Janeiro.

He performed at the opening show of the World Social Forum at Praça da Paz in Ibirapuera, alongside Gilberto Gil, Manu Chao, Marcelo Yuka, and others. He also participated in the International Arts Festival at the Serra da Capivara archaeological site in São Raimundo Nonato, Piauí, along with the Cuban group Los Jubilados and trombonist Raul de Souza, among others. Edvaldo directed and participated in the Afro-Brazilian Mass held in Itu-SP by the União Negra Ituana (UNEI) and the Black community of the Sorocaba region.

In 2024, Edvaldo Santana released his memoir, Sou das quebradas mas eu sou das antigas: São Miguel de Ururaí, published by Editora Lavras.
